Orrin halo pendant

A lighting launch set where hand-blown glass had to look hand-blown, not like a smooth digital sphere.

Project objective

Introduce a hand-blown pendant to architects and specifiers with imagery that shows the glass, the brass and the light it casts, without waiting on an installation shoot.

Input provided

The glassblower's profile drawing, a sample globe showing the rib spacing, a brushed brass finish chip, and the bulb's color temperature.

Visual approach

The irregularity is the point. The ribs vary slightly, bubbles sit at random depths, and the glass is tinted rather than colored, so it glows amber when lit and reads smoky when off. All of that was built into the glass itself rather than painted on afterwards.

Hand-blown amber glass
Smoked amber glass with soft vertical ribs and trapped air bubbles. Tinted rather than colored, so it glows warm when lit.
Ring and fittings
Brushed brass
A single brushed brass ring at the equator, with a matching rod and ceiling canopy. The linear brushing gives it a soft satin reflection.
