Calden modular sofa

A catalog set for a three-module sofa, produced before the first upholstered sample left the workshop.

Project objective

Give a furniture manufacturer catalog, retailer and showroom imagery for a new modular range while the first upholstered samples were still in production, so trade buyers could review it before a fair.

Input provided

Frame and foam drawings with module dimensions, a boucle fabric swatch, a walnut veneer sample, and phone photos of the bare timber frame.

Visual approach

Boucle is hard to render convincingly: each loop has to catch light on its own, or the fabric reads as flat felt. The fabric was built at fiber scale, then placed in daylight interiors where the texture carries the image, with a clean white studio set for retailers who need the product isolated.

Upholstery
Oatmeal boucle
A dense looped boucle, modeled at fiber scale so every loop catches the light. Self-welted seams follow each cushion edge.
Plinth
Oiled walnut
A slim walnut plinth with a straight grain and a soft satin finish, set back beneath the upholstery so the sofa appears to float.
